I hope this is ok to post - we are running a kickstarter campaign for our electric ballwinder, TUG. We were able to demo this at Michigan League of Handweavers Conference and Midwest Weavers Conference in June, and NEWS in July. Right now the ballwinder winds cakes. It does have a removable head and we are currently working on a cone winder attachment for a true cone and a pirn winder attachment. These will probably take 6 months to a year to develop. Check out the video and spread the word if you feel inclined! Thanks! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/143966484/tug-the-electric-ballwinder?ref=48lxub

What's your price point for retailing going to be?  "reasonable" is too subjective for me. Looks good and nice features especially for production type knitters/dyers/weavers.

Hi Lainey, Thanks! Good question. The retail price will be $475. The kickstarter pre-order is currently $400. Julie

Can you give some more information on the projected pirn winder attachment? I would be very interested in an electric pirn winder, if it will wind end feed pirns, and not just bobbins.

Hi! It will do the end feed pirns (that's what I use :) ) We are going to work on the cone attachment first, then the pirn attachment so it will probably be 9-12 months before the pirn attachment is ready. Just so you have an idea of timing! We're looking at a manual control of the yarn through a tensioner - so you would control the way the yarn goes onto the pirn but not have to hold it in your fingers. Let me know if you have any other questions.
