I followed all the directions for warping with the Ashford rigid heddle loom. When I got ready to weave I put the reed in the top position and the shed opened fine. I moved it to the bottom position and the shed does not open. I can't figure out what I did wrong.

Hmm I don't remember ever having this problem with my rigid heddle loom. You may have to refresh the page to add a photo, if you don't see buttons above where you write the comment refresh the page. I think a phot would really help in this situation.

Try tightening up the tension until you get both sheds. What kind of yarn? Is it sticky? Follow Erica's advice > post a photo.

Check to see if you have crossed threads behind the heddle reed. Joanne

What position was the rigid heddle in when you tensioned the warp? It should lhave been in the resting position.

I am so grateful for all these comments. This is my first weaving project "alone" without someone telling me to do each step. I had forgotten there was a "resting position" and so I thought that was the "down position." Now I see! The shed opens fine when it is in the up position and the down position. I had never made it to the "down" position, instead just was putting it in resting and of course there was no open shed. I do love weaving and now I love having a community to help! Thank you.

I look forward to seeing your weaving!
