I am now the proud owner of a B5 Macomber Loom with a sectional beam. I just had my first weaving lesson from a local fiber guild member when my husband came home and told me he saw a loom for sale in a thrift shop. He made me go look at it even though it was way to soon to purchase one but he said it was well made and he knew I would be wanting one sooner or later. So a few days later I bought the B5 Macomber Loom. I called Macomber and was told she was built in November of 1962, I was totally amazed that she was all in one piece and I only had to replace the rubber stops. She was dusty and dirty but now that I have cleaned, polished, oiled and lubricated everything that I was told too by Macomber, she is looking great. Now I just need to learn how to weave!

to the world of Macomber loom owners. Once you catch the weaving bug you will never look back. When doing shows I tell HS students they can purchase a scarf at Walmart and be wearing the same one as hundred thousand other people or you could weave a one of a kind scarf of your own design.

Now one thing you may want to address with your instructor is your sectional beam. You can use it as is or you can pull out the pins and make this a plain beam.

Sounds like you have a great husband.
