I'm trying to find 7" pirns for my end feed shuttles, and not having much luck. Does anyone know where I can get some?

If these are the AVL pirns, Fireside looms has them. I prefer to get slightly longer Schact pirns and cut the ends off. Lots of people carry these.

Thanks, BWSDog, I wasn't sure about cutting ends off.Are the AVL ones 7"? I can't find any sizes on their site.

Not all pirns are interchangeable. EF shuttles come in different lengths. And there are at least three different manufacturers of EFS shuttles.

I use mostly Bluster Bay EFS, but I have AVL and Leclerc fly shuttles. The BB use 5.5" and 8" AVL pirns. The Schacht pirns are 6.25" before I saw them off. The Leclerc pirns are 7" and have steel bases. BB is also selling their own 5.5" pirns, but I don't like them. Besides being plastic, they are thick; you can't get very much thread on them. I prefer wooden pirns.

It seems Leclerc is no longer stocking the 7" pirns. I have a couple of old (antique) shuttles with 7" 'spikes'. They are good metal ended fly shuttles. It would be nice to use them. I'll try the 8" avl I think.

I found Leclerc 7" pirns at the Woolery and Camilla Valley Farm, Schact 6.25 and 8" pirns at Webs and Yarn Barn of Kansas.
