I did not know hanks had to be made into balls. Did you? If, like me, you do not own a Ball Winder gizmo, here is an easy way to do it...

Interweave Craft has a short video to show several everyday items you can use to wind yarns into a ball by hand. My favorite was the empty plastic pill bottle.

Know you what? For over half a century I have been winding center pull balls using only my two hands - they came at birth as standard equipment. Never needed a craftsy video to wind yarn around my fingers.

I am laughing with you, Sara, as my mantra last year was "Simplify".

Yes. Two hands do work, except when the hand doesn't cooperate. My hands have stopped listening to my brain. Sometimes an alternate method or motion to do something is easier. I should have used the phrase Alternate Method versus Easy Way.

Nice to know you are out there reading and adding your experience to the discussion.

I'm very curious about how you wind center pull balls with just your fingers.  I have no problem winding the kind of ball one associates with playful cats using just my hands, but I'm not sure how to do a center pull ball.  Do you use your fingers like a nostepinne?

This method uses just your hands. Video link from WEBS -How to wind a center pull ball - https://www.yarn.com/blog_entries/how-to-wind-a-center-pull-ball-by-hand
