I am still very new to weaving and get confused about types of yarn to use for my warp.  I have made a kitchen towel with sugar and cream for both warp and weft but would now like to try to make something a little less bulky (for lack of a better word) using thinner yarn.

I only have the 8 dent that came with my Harp Forte.  If I get another reed....which size would be most useful for basic scavesf and table linens?  10 dent or 12 dent?

Thanks,

Barb

The Ashford Rigid Heddle Book that contains the doubled 8/2 cotton towels uses the 12.5 dent reed. I have done this and the fabric is quite nice.

When using yarn, any plying more than 2 will usually lead to stiff and bulky fabric, even if it looks thin.
