I have just purchased a new Glimakra Julia eight-shaft  countermarch loom from Glimakra USA.  It was the last one they had available with no new inventory arriving until February or so.  Although i originally intented to purchase a 4-shaft counterbalance Julia loom, i went ahead thinking i might just learn something new and could begin with the four shafts.  I am not a complete weaving novice, but i have never assembled (or even owned) a new loom before.  I was (am) so intimated that it stayed in my bedroom in the unopened shipping boxes for several weeks.  It is assembled at this point minus a warp. . . and for this reason.  The ratchets hit the back end of the pawl and won't advance either the warp or cloth beams.  I've checked the assembly instructions several times and it seems i've assembled the loom correctly, so i'm not sure what i've done wrong.  Please, please, help!  thank you much, Lynne

The countermarche is a little different from many USA looms.  Go to the Glimakra website and research countermarche looms.  Sometimes the set up requires a tweek or two to work beautifully.  Also countermarch requires a warp to enable correct set up.

Hi Lynne,

I have sent you a message about the assembly of the pawl, which will correct the problem you have experienced.  You need to turn the bolt around.  Let me know if that works.

To help you get started with the loom, two books were included as well as the instruction booklet.  If you look at the warping book and wind a warp, you will be able to start to put the warp on.  Think of this as your warp to learn how to use the loom.  Let us know if you have problems.

Hi Joanne,I did turn the bolt around--the directions instruct to enter the screw from the back and the ratchet handle caught on the bolt.  I thought that putting the screw in from the front, the bolt in back would fix that.  But the handle hits the back of the pawl piece.  I'm going to take a picture and post it, but i need to compress it for the website which may take me a little while.  Thank you for your help Joanne, i'm sure this is an easy fix, i just can't seem to figure it out.
