ThIs came with my Macomber and can't figure out what it is.  Any advice would be appreciated as I'm sure it serves a useful function.  Thx!

The item pictured is used in warping.  It depresses the brake pedal by putting it under the lamms and above the pedal.  This keeps the back beam free from the teeth clicking on the brake as you crank on the warp.  While it is not so important on a plain beam, I had to replace the brake mechanism on the sectional beam because, over time, the friction between the brake and teeth of the beam wore the brake's soft cast iron off. The brake no longer would egage the teeth.  When I ordered the new brake device, I also ordered the spacer to hold the brake pedal down.  Problem solved.

Norma good reply. The piece is placed on the brake petal and the "step: is put under the lower cross brace. It is most important when using a friction brake. It is adjusted so it will just allow the beam to move when winding on your yarp.

I've been trying to figure this out - it sounds so darn simple and I understand the concept but but I don't see how it is placed to free up the brake.  Is there a diagram or picture online that shows how to use it?  Thx.
