Treadle This is back!

We are starting again with a draft from noted weaver Laura Fry. Laura has sent her Canadian Snow Flake draft, just in case folks are still getting snow. I know several of my friends have had snow in the last few days!

The entire threading can be downloaded as a wif file from this draft. We invite everyone to download the draft, enter your own tie up, and treadling, then share an image of your complete draft here! This way we can trade some drafts, and digital samples and see what new interesting things everyone comes up with for Laura's amazing Treadle This submission!

Laura sent the following information about the draft:

"Mary Atwater pretty much introduced the Swedish Snowflake draft to North America.  These types of drafts with advancing, point and satin progressions are fairly common in one of the provinces of Sweden (my Swedish neighbour got me to weave her some table cloths with this design because it was traditional from the area she grew up).  However, the draft Mary popularized was not very 'rational'.  David Xenakis figured out that it would be easier if it was re-arranged, which he did sometime in the 1980's and published in Weavers Magazine (or Prairie Wool Companion - can't remember if the name change had happened by then or not).  However, it takes 8 shafts and many people were disappointed that they couldn't weave it so I decided to see if I could reduce the design so that it could be woven on four shafts and then called that draft Canadian Snowflake"

Ok i found out what to do. I had turned the download to a different format by touching the little menu icon at the top and it changed the format. So i changed it back to the regular view and then pasted it into the file upload in iweaveit. It worked great. Nothing like trial and error.

Berryl - I love your treadling!

I just played a bit.  First I kept the treadling the same but played with colors:

treadling this april 2015 color variation

Then I kept the colors the same, but used an advancing twill treadling.  I think it looks a bit like the eyes of a peacock's tail feathers.

Gorgeous! One of my favorite things about treadle this is reading about everyone's thought process! And seeing the gorgeous results of course!
