Hi, I'm new to weavolution (newbie weaver too). I bought a cute little 2 harness folding loom, but it is meant to have 4 harnesses.  I was told it was "probably" a Harrisville, but l have not confirmed that and there is no maker's mark on the loom.  Does anyone recognize this loom? Are replacement harnesses possible to get?  is there someone making them to match looms in need?  The harness measures 21" X 15 and uses 10.5" heddles. Thanks.

I need two more just like this one.

notice there are no lamms...

Thanks for any help or leads, Melissa

I don't know what brand loom this is. But a HD loom uses 10.5 inch heddles. I am thinking  22 inch HD frames will work. I would purchase 4 frames from HD.Michael

That is not a Harrisville Design loom; altho it looks like it may have been modeled after the HD looms. It's most likely a one-off hand made loom. It looks like it's in good shape.

The harnessess hang freely by cords that travel over the pulleys in the castle. There are probably similar pulleys in the frame below the harnesses that directly connect to the treadles since there are only 4 treadles.

The harness frames are fairly typical ... the challenge will be finding the correct size to match what you have. Measure correctly and then call Harrisville Designs. They may have what will fit your loom.

If it is HD harnesses, I think I've got a few of these to sell used.  PM me when you have the info.

Thanks Dena! I don't seem to be able to create private messages. I've talked to HD and they are snail mailing me something (?) I'll let you know as soon I get it. Hopefully I can send PMs by then. Do you have measurements on your extra harnesses?

They are the regular 22" harrisville shafts.  I've been teaching and haven't gotten a chance to get down to the basement to check them out and get photos but I expect you can get their measurements off the website.  Will try to get more info soon, but it may take a few days as my studio is full of fabulous weavers making fabulous things right now and I am spending all of my time trying to keep them well fed with great warps and great chocolate!

No problem... I just wish I was a fly on your wall soaking in all the weaving excitement! Thanks.

Hi Dena,  I still don't seem to be able to send private messages.  Sorry to bother you at holiday time, but when you can, let me know if you find the Harrisville shafts.  I did talk to HD and I can buy some from them.  The size is different, so I'm looking at buying 4 or altering the size.  I have a woodworker friend that says he can make the changes I need.  If you have some HD shafts that are not part of a loom, i would be interested in getting them from you, but if they are part of a full loom, I'll buy from HD.

Sorry that fell off my plate.  Just got down to the basement and yes, they are there.  My basement is a wellspring for random weaving equipment.  Four 22" Harrisville shafts in good condition.  I haven't checked their new price, but if it's not outrageously high, I can sell them to you at half new price new, plus shipping from Vermont.  My e-mail is dena at vermontweaver dot com.

If you are going to alter the size why don't you just buy the metal side frames. The don't know if HD sells the metal pieces but I do know Gilmore sell the metal frames, bars and heddle hooks: http://gilmorelooms.com/PriceShip.html

Thanks... Dena is coming to my rescue.  I'm already leaning on my woodworking friend for a bench, so this is an easier fix for me, but I'm really happy to know about the Gilmore replacement pieces page.  I'm surprised more manufacturers don't spell it all out on their websites.  Makes it so much easier. Happy Thanksgiving!
