I'm looking to take a Tapestry weaving course. I am self taught so would like to know, what skills an intermediate weaver should have.

I would not worry about the skills you need.  After teaching tapestry for over 30 years, sometimes the beginners do better than the experienced weavers.  Your only concern is that you may be developing bad habits, so it is best to take a class, even if you are not sure you will fit in.
