Hi again, you are all so helpful.  My shafts now are working correctly and I have put a warp on ready to weave.  I am weaving a braided twill on 8 shafts.  The problem is that when weaving plain weave it works well on the 1,2 treadling, but when raising 3-8 I am getting some lifting of the 1,2 threads.  Any suggestions how to stop this?

Thanks again,

Kay

Sounds like you have either a bent hook or a groove on that treadle that needs cleaning. Get under the loom and push down on the 3-8 treadle and see if any other treadles move, I am guessing the 1,2 is moving.Michael

Yes it sure was sticky.  I cleaned it out but it was still lifting a bit.  Then I noticed that when pushing the 3-8 treadle (the far right treadle) my foot was also pushing the treadle next to it and slightly lifting those shafts too.  This loom is so small I have to get used to things being closer together. Thanks again.  It is now weaving fine. I on the other hand have not done any weaving for so long that I am relearning everything.  Just making friends with the new loom.

What loom are you weaving on? Are you using the old treadles hooks or the new super hooks. I am thinking you can open up the space between the treadles if you want.

I read some time back about someone who converted the tie-ups from hooks to Texsolv. I'm considering doing that and wonder if anyone has more input, such as "was it worth it". I'm not sure how much longer I can lie on the floor and tie up 10 treadles. Thanks!
