Does anybody know of an affordable auto pirn winder? I deparately need one but can't afford the AVL one at present. I found an old thread in Wevetech which mentioned one from about 2005 but I haven't had any response from the email address.

I haven't yet been able to find any way into the used equipment market here in New Zealand.

There is a fellow that sells eletric bobbin winders on ebay. I told him I needed one for AVL length pirns and he made one long enough. It works great and he stands behind what he sells. I had a problem and he updated the winder at no charge. THe name of the fellow is Wayne Halladey.

Do you have his Seller's id? I'm new to ebay as we use Trademe in New Zealand and I haven't been able to find mention of him on ebay yet.

The ebay name is hollyhockhillfarm.  I got one about a year ago.  It just holds the AVL pirns.  I wish the spring were just a little tighter, but if I need, I find a light finger on the end is enough to counterbalance the pressure I'm putting on the pirn while winding it.

I have found it reliable and am happy I bought it.
