Save the date on your calendars, Joanne Hall will be teaching an Overshot Weaving course at the Woolery this Fall!

Joanne’s classes are highly acclaimed throughout the U.S.A and abroad. She is very well known in the hand-weaving industry as a weaver, teacher & author of Tying up the Countermarch Loom and Learning to Warp your Loom.

This exciting weekend-long workshop will teach you the basic concepts of of four-shaft overshot weaving, studying some of the many possible pattern structures; we will also look at other weaving patterns.

In the past, overshot was typically used to weave bed coverings. Today, we find it is one of the most versatile weaves and is subject to endless variations.

Please note: You will bring your own workshop loom to the class and we will warp the looms together on Friday with a pre-measured warp.

I'm thinking my Harrisville 8 shaft/10 treadle doesn't qualify as "a workshop loom."  Hmmm, maybe that's why I need one of those cute Baby Wolf looms.......

By the way, this workshop has me envious of anyone who can attend!  I love her tips and projects on Weavolution.

Chris I was thinking the same thinkg - that I really need a more portable loom s I can take workshops and such... What a good excuse for another loom!

I did a search and found a discussion on "workshop looms" that was really interesting.  Then I found an article on Weavezine about "how to buy a used loom."  So much information, so little time....

I was really salivating to come to that workshop.  I figured out all kinds of travel arrangements, how long, etc.  But then there's work.  It was a bad time to take off work.  I get disappointed all over again every time I think about it.  I even have a portable loom suitable for workshops.  (Sigh.  Grump.)    I hope there is another similar workshop available when I CAN take off work.

If anyone would like me to teach again at the Woolery, suggest a topic and possible months that would be good for you and perhaps I can make arrangements with the Woolery.  The workshop filled and we filled the room.  We all had a great time at the workshop and I would really like to do it again.  So, let us know what type of workshop you would like to see at The Woolery.
