But of course another what kind of loom is it post. The only written thing I can see on it is on the "reed" that goes in the beater. Which says Axel Hindersons.

A link to more photos is here. And thank you so very much for any help you can provide. I've woven on a Navajo Loom in that style many years ago, so this is all new to me.

Hi Enquery,
So it looks like the highest bit upright is the beater and reed housing, correct? It pivots back and forth to push the wef yarn into place while weaving.

But where is the castle and the harnesses?

How much was this assembled when you received it? I haven't looked real close, but the arrangement of treadles and beater seems off right now.

I think this is a Lillstina with the castle missing.  Look here:

The treadles are tied on at the back, so it looks like the beater is on backwards.

It looks like, from the fasteners, wear and staining of the side pieces that the beater is correctly installed.  The mystery is: how and where are the shafts mounted?

I'm guessing that the castle portion is similar to the Dryad Leicester Floor loom, and slides onto the two exposed bolts on the rear side pieces.  There are some photos of the Dryad here.

Oh, this looks right. Yes, the castle seems to be missing. I can see it attaches where the bolt and latch is on the frame. I'll ask the woman who gave it to me about it. This seems like an essential part of getting it to work :) I stopped and talked to a weaver from our local weavers guild at he county fair today and I could see how the castle part works. It had little frames in it with the metal heddles? In it. Do you think this castle was similar? I can't quite make out what kind of Mechanism it is in the Lillstina diagram. And thanks so much for that link.

enquery

Yes, I think I tried it both ways and it seemed to be in the proper position in this arrangement. Thanks for the link!

Yes, that is the beater and housing at the top. All was assembled except the beater. The castle and harnesses are missing. The harnesses, are those like little frames? I'll ask the woman if there are more parts. She hadn't woven on it in 30 years and couldn't recall how to set it up. Let's hope she finds the castle part. Thanks all for your assistance. You've really made this gell for me. You all would have snickered if I'd taken pics of it when it was set up on its side or when I had it upside down. I knew the treadles belonged on the floor though ;) Oh, and I also found a brochure: http://garciax4.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Full-Lillstina-Catalog.pdf

I called the woman who gave me the loom today and she said there was nothing else in the storage unit, so there is no castle. I'm sad about it, but one day I might be interested enough to try to get one made. I will go to our local guild and see what I can come up with there. Some other loom might be in my future anyway. Well, one can't complain, it was free. Now it's in MY storage unit ;/

OW, I didn't realize I'd be so disappointed :) Would love a sketch! Thanks SO much! I have been refurbishing old sewing machines for years. This is just another type of mechanics. I won't let it beat me. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
