I put this temple together today from hard maple, made a 1/8" brass pin with an eye for a handle, made a SS sliding band from a band clamp and I used finish nails inserted at 30 degrees on the stretchers. I drilled all the way up the length of the outside piece as it was easiest to line up the holes in the insert (middle piece). This is not needed and the plans do not call for it. The outside piece just needs on hole drilled through and through as the falcrum on the end. Anyhow, doesn't detract from the piece in my opinion.

This will actually extend to 65", but as I understand it you only go out to within 3/4" from the edges of the weaving.

Enjoy :)

I'm new to this forum and am curious.  You mentioned "the plans".  Are there plans available?  If so, can you tell me where to purchase them or ???   Chris

Worst's book, "Foot-Power Loom Weaving" has the plans. It can be downloaded from the Internet Archives.

Just got the plans from Worst's book.  Sending hubby to the hardware store to pick up pieces.  I've always wanted to try a temple but couldn't stomach paying $40 for something I might not like.

I have a short weaving video on youtube that shows how the temple is applied to the weave if your not sure. The video is here on the link below.
