I'm going to tackle my fear of following a draft to warp and weave. Using Learning to Weave as my guide, I'm going to warp my floor loom today and attempt to follow a draft I've written using the book's directions.

I'm sure it will go well. Let us know!

I set a new personal best record for warping time yesterday. I even got the heddles tied according to the draft and am ready to weave today. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to do it.

And don't forget to post your draft here in weavo AND link it to your project to teach others!

I've read the "help" on posting pics, but following the directions doesn't "load" any of my directories or files. Just shows a user number and empty directory. The "drafts" section seems to want me to have a weaving software program to upload drafts from, but I'm not sure. Guess I need a Weavolution tutor. I think I'll go do some weaving instead!

Hi Chris

If you don't have weaving software to generate a draft(?), you can always use the tried and tested method of graph paper and pen. That's what I usually do.

A scan or a photo of the hand drawn draft can then be uploaded as a picture. I hope this helps...?

I used graph paper and took a picture and posted it in my projects, along with a picture of my weaving so far.  I'm so excited.  I can't believe I ran out of weft yarn and have to head to the store tomorrow to continue.  This is what comes of grabbing from the stash and not doing calculations.

This is probably a tried and true design, but to me, it's my own invention.  I've had no trouble warping, tying up the heddles, and following the treadling pattern.  However, it's hard to keep track of what row I'm on.  I've put post-it notes on the front beam to help keep me from getting mixed up.  I'm hoping that, like knitting, I'll figure out the pattern so I won't have to be so tied to the steps.

Okay. Here goes.  I'm copying the picture from my Draft page.

I can't believe I was able to find the same dye lot at our local AC Moore! Phew. I'm back to weaving first thing in the morning!!

Chris, I am having good results using the free/shareware download of "Weave Design" to make and print out drafts. Also as a place keeper during the weaving I put a large paperclip on the side margin and as I weave a segment, I slide the paperclip down and weave again, and repeat.

I love your paperclip solution for keeping my place! I am definitely doing this tomorrow. You are going to save my sanity.
