I'm new, but I guess everyone is! I came to the community to look around out of curiosity. Thought I’d peek in to ooh and ah, but figured I wouldn't bother joining since I just dabble with small weaves for the fun of the process. Everything here is way ahead of my league. THEN I saw your potholder and that make me smile! Maybe there IS room here for my little dabbles at weaving and just having some fun! Thanks so much for making this seem a welcoming place even for lil-bitty weavers like me!

Hurrah, that's exactly the kind of welcoming place this ought to be - and I'm glad you're here!

Process is process whether you're on potholders or 4-shaft or 32-shaft, or jaquard lovlinesses. And we all start somewhere, right?

Okay, 'fess up!  How many of you dug down into your closet to find your potholder loom after reading Syne Mitchell's article in WeaveZine in early May? If you missed it, go see how the humble potholder loom can be brought into happy use for weavers of all ages:  http://www.weavezine.com/content/potholder-loom-basics-and-beyond  -- I'll wait.

Okay, so I'm not as wild about the loopers, cotton or wool, and I have these cones of the lovely Harrisville Designs New England Shetland that came along to me with the Norwood 40" -- just the thing for playing with color, thought I, and pulled a strand from several cones to go forth and back, over and across: I filled the loom "warp-wise" then "weft-wise" above that, left long tails to play with later, and then interwove the warp lengths, turning to feature different of the colors randomly (but not twisted if I could help it).

What I mean by 30/3 epi is that I have five strands doubled up in a loop (so, 10) per "end" and there are 3 of those ends per inch on the not-yet-wet-finished piece.

I rather like the result, and so does my kitchen.

Right from the start, Weavolution has stated the intent to welcome all sizes and kinds of weavings, and I'm plunking this down in hour two of day one of the Beta, as a welcome mat and invite to small-loom users.
