A first try after several warping disasters on the new (to me) Nilec. Clearly the crochet thread needed to be threaded maybe double in my 12-dent reed. But you live and learn. I tried various weft yarns to see what would happen. Silly as it is I am very proud.

You are off to a great start!

Okay, Now what is next on the loom?

Save your samplers, too! The odds and ends of fabric make cool little gifts and it is fun to track your growth.

I have just sleyed the reed and then threaded half the heddles for 2 little(13"x24") rugs for my sister's rabbit houses. She has 7 rabbits at present, some of them are fosters for a rescue organization. So by the time I make 7 little rugs I will have warping the Nilec down. This is the first time I have done the whole warping process by the book (Deb Chandler's Learning to Weave), the first time I have used the cross (what a clever invention) and used a warping board.

The warp is Peaches and Cream cotton worsted 12 epi in the 12-dent reed. The weft is several colors of cotton (approximately worsted) from a frogged sweater I bought in a thrift shop. There are 156 ends altogether and I hope it doesn't matter that it is badly centered on the reed. I am expecting it to be pretty solid and sturdy because it will be washed many times.

Not silly AT ALL!  We all started somewhere and I for one started out with crochet thread and dime store acrylic yarns.  I have moved on into wool, even my own hand spun wool that I went to South Carolina and got straight from the sheep.   Now I have found that here in the Florida climate cotton is easier to find and I often use crochet thread (#3 size).  We all have different tastes and needs and have to start somewhere.  I ABSOLUTELY Love your sampler.  I have made many and am still proud of every one that I see hanging in my friends homes.  Be PROUD and let us know what you do next!
