Mini Purse woven on Schacht Rigid Heddle Loom with Sugar and Cream Yarn

I wove a length of fabric in the width about an inch wider than I wanted the finished purse to be so that I would have fabric for seaming the lining. I made it long enough for 2 purses with no gap between them. Then I removed the fabric from the loom and finished the ends with machine zig -zag stitching. I cut the cloth in 2 pieces by zig-zag stitching 2 parallel rows at a mid-point in the length of the cloth and then cutting between the stitching so my cloth wouldn't unravel. Then I lined the purse by simply placing the lining fabric on top of my woven fabric (right sides together) and stitching along the perimeter, leaving an opening for turning. Next, I folded the lined fabric onto itself to form the purse shape and then hand stitched the sides with the same yarn I used in my weft. My photo shows me stitching the sides of the purse in a woven back and forth pattern. I added a ribbon that hooks around the button on the front. This little purse is a great size for taking with me on a bike ride or hike when all I need is my cell phone and wallet. This was quick to make and a great way to play around with color patterns on the rigid heddle loom.

Nice work!

I've braided and/or chained warp for a strap too.
