The draft for these towels can be found in Handwoven September/October 2003.  I enjoyed weaving with the organic cotton. The finished towels have a wonderful hand and the colour has deepend with multiple washings.

They look really great. Did you use a thinner yarn or a different structure for those nice edges?

Makes me want to finish the shawl on my loom fast to get on with some face cloths. Did you see Syne's suggestion for face cloths? (in weave Zine recently) That's what I am going to try next.

I'm glad you are enjoying weaving those facecloths....that was my article in the 2003 Handwoven.  I am still weaving those facecloths....I can sell as many as I care to weave at my local all-natural soap maker's shop!   And when I  make a mistakes, I get to use those in my own bathroom, and really love them.

Well I'm so glad you submitted that article; I love, love, love these face cloths and so does everyone in my family :-) I make my own soap as well and these are a perfect companion.   I've just recently decided to weave the bath towels, I have the warp wound and plan to dress the loom this week.

Hi Ellen, thank you for your comment.   I'll have to visit Weavezine and check out Syne's suggestion.  For the face cloths,  I used what karen suggested in her article, the 20/2 cotton for the hems and the 10/2 for the body.  I attribute the nice edges to the organic cotton behaving and the end-feed shuttle that I used to weave the body of the cloth (I used a Bosworth shuttle (love those) for the hems).

Would love to see your shawl.

I thought those hems looked particularly good! I've tried using thinner yarn for both the selvedge sides and hems for hand towels. It is a shame that issue of Handwoven is from before I started subscribing. But I can more or less make up something along those lines some day, if I can find the organic cotton in the same quality here in the vicinity (Denmark/Scandinavia/even Europe).

I'll post my shawl as a project when I get it finished. :-) It will be a few weeks, though. It is strikingly red with a big black stripe don the middle!
