Hello everyone,

I am going to be weaving a deflected double cloth scarf, 10 inches wide and roughly three yards long. I have selected two yarns - a gorgeous Lambswool/merino blend at 18epi and a viscose yarn at 26 epi. I only have a 16 dpi reed too. I am posting to ask some advice about what sett you think would be appropriate for these two yarns? The plan I will be using is from Margo Selby's book and she recomends a sett of 16 epi which is probably going to be too loose for the viscose?

Thanks in advance,

Elizabeth.

I suggest an 8 dent reed, giving you a sett of 16 (2 per dent) for the wool and 24 (3 per dent) for the viscose.  A 16 dent reed would be too tight for the wool yarn and would cause some fuzzing and sticking, especially if you have a jack loom where the yarn will rest at the bottom of the reed.
