New to Fiberworks.  Bought an old Schacht Mighty Wolf with a Combby and old computer which runs Windows 95.  Just background.

My question is:  When writing a draft, for the treadling, if it has multiple repeats do you copy the repeats for the entire draft and then end the program at the end of say the towels or do you just repeat it once and run it over and over again.  Also if you stop weaving without completing the project do you mark the line you left of at and resume the next time or run a shorter treadling sequence and alway complete that sequence?  In my situation, leaving the computer running when I leave the studio is not an option.  Trying to find the best way to start/stop my weaving sequence.

I tend to design the complete treadling sequence for, say a towel because I will usually include a different sequence for hems. When you finish your weaving session, and close the program, tell it to save changes and it should begin where you left off. I always disengage the solenoids before closing the program, too. It depends. On a pattern with just a few picks, I'll set the program to repeat just that sequence and use a measuring string to determine when I have a complete piece. I'm using Weavepoint, but I think PCW does this as well - there is a feature for tabby that can be turned on as needed - for hems or tabby panels within a towel. There is probably also a "goto" feature that allows you to write down the last pick when stopping - and then returning to that pick when starting up again.

Sometimes, I'll have a very complex sequence - over 1000 picks to place stripes or other variations within a piece - then I'll run the whole sequence - I save the file on the last pick and when I reboot, that is where the picks restart.

Whichever method you decide on, make sure you ask the program to save. With the newer version I have never had problems when coming back, but in the older version(s) it sometimes happened that I was started on an adjacent pick (one before=last woven or one after=one missed - don't remember). Because of that, I *always* note wich pick # I'm supposed to start with...

Great ideas, ladies, thanks so much.  Didn't even consider saving the program for the restarting point.  Hopefully I'll upgrade the software one of these days but I want to make sure the loom is going to work before I invest any more money into it!
