It is slippery so you have to take care to treat it with that in mind.  e.g. lash on rather than tie onto the front apron/beam.  It prefers a more humid atmosphere so if you live in an arid climate, I'd run a humidifier near the loom to keep it happy.

Then I think I'll wait... I live in the high desert of Big Bend in Texas. Our humidity is typically 10-15% folks complain if it's above 20! I actually asked about because I had just reviewed your directions for your "rainbow scarf" in the handwoven techniques on Color.

You could do the scarf in 8/2 cotton.  It won't have the shine, but...
