I recently bought a Baby Mac.  It's generally in decent shape, but needs a little TLC.  My first fix is the waxed string that ties on the beams.  I'm not a fan of the waxed string.  Can I have the beams drilled through and use Texsolve like my Mighty Wolf?

This is a serious modification and you will need to contact the manufacturer.  Of course, they will probably discourage it, since it could weaken the beam and they sure don't want to be held accountable for that!  Since they do not drill beams for sectional warping rakes, I'm going to guess that the answer will be no.

I assume that you are referring to the waxed strings that are used in place of aprons on the Macomber looms. Rather than drill holes through the beams, you might consider stapling or screwing lengths of Texsolv cord to the beam. My AVL Workshop Dobby Loom uses Texsolv cords in place of an apron on the cloth beam. The beam is metal and the cords are held in place with screws.

Another option would be to replace the cords with a cloth apron.

I will have to go alone with weaver-dyer just staple the Texsolve to the beam.

Don't drill holes in the beam and screw up your loom.  If you must replace the waxed linen with texsolv at least do it right.  To see how it's done, see the tutorial at:

Frankly, I prefer the waxed linen.
