Sketching swatching and sampling as weaving tools

I’ve been working hard on a new tapestry. It was going really well until I got stuck on a creative logjam.

So, I went back to a failproof technique that I learned in art school a million years ago. Sketch, sketch, sketch…

And, as a designer, I always find swatching to be incredibly helpful.

Using sketching and swatching, I not only got myself through a nasty patch of the ‘oh man, what do I do with this, now?’s, but I also got REALLY inspired and excited about trying out some new to me techniques.
