 A friend wove a very nice purse with varied colors of overshot patterns and I loved it.  I decided to give it a try.  Being a new weaver, I made mistakes.  I tied on to the heddles using a basic 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 etc.  When I decided to add the overshot strip, I just picked something from the 4-Harness pattern book and started weaving.  At first I couldn't understand why my work didn't look anything like the pattern in the book.  Of course, I saw the error of my ways but - I decided I liked the end result and pressed on.
