but you did a nice job winding that red flat shuttle! The way you wound it keeps the bulk of the material spaced out better than just going around and around with parallel windings. 

Wool, Alpaca, & Silk is a very nice material to work with. Have fun!

I have found that I wind faster in the figure eight motion than rotating the shuttle. I also get more Weft on a shuttle with that winding method. You are absolutely correct.
