I just repaired a broken lash cord, it looks more like a strong ribbon, on my Harrisville floor loom. When I was starting to weave, a lash cord on the front cloth bar broke. Ugh! I'm looking for any suggestions on repair.

On the rear, I pulled the cords off. Trimmed them all to the same size, recut the slit and slipped the end in to make a loop to hold the apron bar. Then restapled them to the bar itself. Any other suggestions for the front?

Thanks, Joan

Hi Joan,  I call them beam cords.  I would call Harrisville and ask them what to do.  Goggle Harrisville Designs.

I once called Harrisville to ask for replacement "ribbons"; they said they don't sell them because nobody liked them and everybody switches to aprons.  Things might have changed since then (maybe 5 years or more ago).  Your fix sounds good, but I'd strengthen the holes with fray chek just to be safe.  And don't forget yu've just added an inch or two to your loom waste.

I changed the loom in question to aprons...
