Soooo my heddles aren't long enough. So now i know better and next time, they'll be longer and the weaving will be easier.
I had that wad of leftover sock yarn, see, and the inkle loom was just sitting there, staring at me and begging for a reason to BE, if you know what i mean, and i just randomly grabbed the two and put them together. and i'm ending up with an approximately 1 1/2 inch wide beltish looking strap, and my daughter, who loves my fibery stuff, said, OH, MOM, CAN THAT BELT BE MINE?? and i looked at it, and said, um, ok. well, that makes sense, anyhow, since her waist is tiny, and mine is .. less tiny, ha, so it will be done sooner. it's the same logical process that makes most of the socks i knit not be for me, either.
