Dish Towels

These towels were an exercise in learning dukagang.  There are a set of five towels, one for each season of the year plus Christmas.  I used cross stitch patterns from embroidery books for inspiration and created my own designs.

There is a rosepath border at both ends of each towel with the dukagang motif only on one end.  Dukagang is worked with the right side facing away from the weaver, so I used a mirror held under the weaving to check my work.  There was enough warp left at the end to weave a small wall hanging.

These towels won Honorable Mention in the Handwoven Magazine's  "Towels for a New Century" contest.
