And I love your explanation of how you used different weave structures.  Quite a project!

Ditto on explaining weave structure. It should be in a craft museum.

Every so often i see something that takes my breath away!  Your Noah's Ark is a joyful celebration of weaving as well as an example of beautiful and creative folk art!

Hi Sue,

Sorry it took so long for me to thank you for your wonderful comments. I've always loved folk art and only recently found away to create it through fiber. This piece still makes me smile every time I look at it. Thank you again for your support!

Notes

I like using weave structures to simulate actual textures. I had been thinking of how to create a woven Noah's Ark for a while when I realized Dimity would be the perfect weave structure for the hull of the ark. The deck, cabin walls and roof were all done using a straight twill threading. Their small size and detailed construction made felt the best fabric choice for the animals.
