This looks so soft!  I would love to hear more about it - did you dye it after weaving to get those marks?

I looked at your other weaving projects. All are worthy of a public art display. I also would like to know more.

It appears that you used clasped weft technique here - is that correct?  If so, I am doubly impressed by your achievement of the mirror images on the ends of the piece.

Hello, Queezle.  No I didn't dye the shawl after I wove it.  I have a mantra which is that there are only so many hours in a life and I want to weave.  I use other artists' handspun and dyed fibers to do my work.  The effects come from clasped weaving.  Thanks for asking.  Barb

Thank you, 10ashus, for your comment.  Actually I have two pieces in a fiber arts show right now.  I belong to two guilds...one is specific for traditional handwoven items and the other is a fiber arts group that shows and sells.  I am just now beginning to get out there a bit after many years of weaving for family and friends.

Yes, Peg.Cherre, this piece is clasped weft.  I love the technique which is inspired by Saori weaving.  Having a degree in fine art with an emphasis on painting, I'm always looking for ways to change and enhance traditional weaving techniques.  This piece has been sold to someone who absolutely loves it.  The alpaca yarn is simply scrumptious.  As for the design, I like to balance my shawls from one end to the other but not exactly...a poetic response to each other in a way.

Baba, that is amazing.  You mentioned an award from AAUW, so I'm guessing you are on the faculty somewhere in an art department?  Do you fully plan out each end so the result has your desired balance, or do you wing it?  Whatever it is, it clearly works.
