Oh, how I would love to wear this! This is elegant! I like how the sleeves drape. I remember the beautiful cloth. Nice job.

Beautiful! That must feel so good to wear.

Thank you both.   It is very comfortable, and I have have a new appreciation for the genius of this Japanese design!   I'm currently weaving fabric for another one, but with long sleeves and a longer body.

How wonderfully elegant!  You did a fantastic job on this!

Thank you kendrick43!   Here is the pattern.  You sew the "tubes" for the sleeves and then attach them into the body.   The tubes can be rotated a little, putting the seam at the back, so that you can match the pattern at the shoulders.   The area at the underarms is left open, that is, not attached to the body.  The only waste is the part you cut out for the neck.   Very efficient!

This is a really beautiful fabric, and it is slightly different from another snakeskin draft on handweaving.net.  I plan to make a snake-skin scarf for my snake-loving PhD student when she graduates, and am collecting drafts to consider.  I really like that this particular draft is asymmetric.  I'd love to hear about the drafts that others know about.

You must stand so straight and proud when wearing this garment. A beautiful fabric, an elegant design, luxury details.

I will select this project as a Favorite and save it as inspiration for what is possible.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Notes

This is a short Kimono jacket that I made from the snakeskin draft that I posted awhile ago:

http://weavolution.com/draft/snake-skin-my-version

It's lined with silk also.   I have a couple of vintage Kimonos, and used them to make the pattern.  It was one of the easiest things to sew, and used almost every bit of the fabric.  The little tie at the front isn't traditional, but works better for a modern jacket.   Note that the pockets are in the sleeves.   I'm in the process of weaving a fabric for a long sleeve version of the pattern.

The draft is here:
