I love these and I have a lot of left-over sock yarn (I love that stuff too).  

So when you say you doubled the sock yarn - you used 2 threads for each pass through the shed?  Did you use 2 shuttles, one after the other?  I'm just trying to picture how this worked.

Same threading and tie up for all.  Played with the draft on the computer to produce some different patterns.  5/2 pearl cotton for warp; variegated sock yarn doubled for weft.
