Hi April,

Many people find that using the 8/4 rug warp doubled makes a good hem and you'll reduce the draw in by beating on the opposite shed, if you aren't using a temple. Lovely colours! Liese

Notes

These were the first Pendleton selvege rugs I wove - using a Schacht Baby Wolf loom.  It was impossible to get the tension I needed - I pushed the loom to the maximum of its capabilities and was afraid it would eventually snap.  I eventually overdyed the two yellow and green rugs with blue Kool-Aid and they turned into a lovely teal with dark green, red and blue accents.  I used cotton warp for the hems - which drew in too much.

I'm now using a LeClerc loom and it is much better suited to rug weaving, but I'm making it creak and groan also in order to get enough tension on the warp.  I am currently using Jason Collingwood's rug wool for the hems.
