These patterns are lovely and exciting! Can you recommend resources for instruction on this weave structure?

I got the pattern for Snowflake Twill from a Twills workshop given by Vicky Tardy (1999) and fell in love with my sample.  The book, The Best of Weaver's - TWILL THRILLS - contains this pattern on page 55, #2 - Swedish snowflake.

I just realized I have this book! Thanks for the info., I'll dig it out and see what I can come up with. Were you happy with the perle cotton?

April Mae (not verified)

I loved using 5/2 perle cotton because of its sheen.  The thickness was good for runners and placemats and made the pattern really "pop".  I've also seen Snowflake Twill used for scarves in very fine silk -  but the pattern is much smaller and must take a very long time to weave by hand.

If you only have four shafts I did a four shaft variation of the Swedish Snowflake threading/treadling.

Cheers,

Laura

Notes

This is an advancing twill and was tromp-as-writ.  This is my favorite weaving project so far - I tied on several warps before I finally made myself move on to a new project.
