What fun! I read the book a loooong time ago and don't have a copy and don't remember it all that well. I think ''Green Eggs and Ham'' made more of an impression on me.

Please explain the references!

Seen in person, Homage to the Cat in the Hat is even more attractive and impressive than in the photo. It will be on display until November 1, 2009 at the Woodstock Weavers / Hollow Tree Spinners Show in The Courthouse Art Center in Woodstock, Illinois. The weaver is also a spinner. At the show, you'll see his award-winning charka spinning, a naalbinding stole, and a Tunisian Crochet scarf. He is always learning new techniques and pushing limits.

There are elements from both The Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. Both stories take place on gray, cloudy days, hence the gray sky at the top. The first book includes a talking goldfish, and where the gray pattern begins at the top of the lower overshot portion, you can find outlines of fish with eyes. Reading up from the bottom you can see the cat's eyes appear, and then enlarge into footprints in the snow as he climbs the hill. In the second book, the cat's antics turn the snow pink, and indeed the footprints travel through pink snow, which is also falling from the gray clouds.

Notes

Woven on the same warp as the "Purple Onions Make Me Cry," this abstract wall hanging contains references to the popular "Cat in the Hat" books by Dr. Seuss. Can you spot them?
