Hello,

Saturday I'm playing in the Nisswa Stammen up north as we say in Minnesota.   I'll be one of the hundreds of fiddlers there and playing with the ASI Spelmanslag.

I'm going to study all the different "drack", specificly Swedish ones since I play in a Swedish group.  However, I am half Norwegian, not Swedish.  So I'm not looking to make a costume from a specific area or region. I want some kind of generic drack.

Anyone every woven a Scandinavian costume?

Ideas for something that could pass as both Swedish and Norwegian without being too Norwegian?  For instance, the artistic director of the group says I can't wear a hardanger apron, too Norwegian.

I also sew and  machine needle felt, so want to make a costume that used  my skills and replace embroidery with some other kind of embellishment I can do.

I Scandi dance so I want a drack that flows when I dance.

Please send me your suggestions/thoughts/patterns, etc.

Thanks.

Cheers

Try googling 'folkdräkt' for sweden and 'bunad' for norway, then looking at the google images tab

Poking around here might help:  http://www.bygdeskraddaren.se/index.htm
