Hello Weavolution friends,

We are thrilled at all the activity and sharing that is happening here and we have received many, many wonderful comments and suggestions.  Please continue to let us know if you find something that is not quite right.  This is a beta test and as such there will be problems.  We are working hard to keep up with all the fixes that need to happen but it takes time.

One thing has come to our attention needs immediate fixing. Some drafts are being posted that are under copyright.  This is against the law and we have removed those drafts from Weavolution. Because the majority of books and magazines are still under copyright, we will be disabling upload of draft files for drafts that come from books and magazines.  We will also be posting more information about copyright in our Help section, and will announce when we've got that written.   We are looking for ways to help you differentiate between what is “in the public domain” and what is “copyrighted”.  The one thing that is clear, a draft that is copyrighted cannot be posted on our website.

There are two things we are doing immediately.  First, if you have posted a draft from a book or magazine, we have taken it down for the time being.  Second, starting Thursday, June 11, we will disable the ability to post a draft from a book or magazine.  Until our developers are able to do that, please do not post a draft that you know, for a fact, is from a book or magazine.

We’ll keep you posted on this issue as we learn more and are able to clarify the situation.  If you like, use your favorite search engine and learn more about the difference between copyright and public domain.  The Library of Congress publishes information about copyright which can be found at this link:  http://www.copyright.gov/.

Thanks for your continued support

Claudia, Alison and Tien

How are you expecting us to reference drafts that are in books?  For example, on the project page, there is a single field for draft.  I need to enter a book name, a page number, and a draft identifier if the draft is from a book.

I'm wondering...and maybe it's too much to ask...if it would be easier to have this section more than one field.

For example:

draft source...radio buttons or a drop down that allows: book, magazine, handweaving.net, my own design

then if any of the first three are selected...another field(s) that allow us to point specifically to the source

and if the last is selected, we get the option to load our own draft (as you currently have it)

Just some ideas.  Keep up the great work!

well, nevermind!!  I forgot that I have to add a draft (but not upload it) to get the name to allow me to put it in my project.  And when I add the draft, it's all there.

A thousand apologies.  I should have known you had this figured out already.
