I have an eight harness, 10 pedal Countryside loom that is not made anymore. I have some tie-ups but need about 20 more for a waffle weave project. My first attempt to make tie-ups was using hangers, but all the hangers I have are too wide of gauge of wire. If the tie-ups are not perfectly straight, they hang up and affect the shed, so making my own has also run into issues here. So, the questions are: How do I figure the gauge of wire and where might I find appropriate wire, or has anyone else come up with an alternate solution or know where I could purchase 7 1/2" tie-ups for the old Countryside Loom??? Thanks Ellen B

If they are unique to Countryside looms, you could take one to a hardware store and let the people find the right wire for you.  Many loom manufacturers used other makers' hardware, so your tie up wires may be made by someone  else.  Without a picture, it's hard to tell.

I think I have found some wire on Grainger. It comes in 36" lengths and my husband thinks he can make the bends I need. He actually had a tool called a micrometer that could measure the width of the wire. I will post after I get some made, but it will be after we get back ftom a trip. Thanjs for your help.

One thing to keep in mind, when parts like this are made of wire, the wire is usually tempered (heated to red hot and quenched quickly) to harden them and keep them from bending easily.

Just an update. I found straight music wire at Grainger (measured the wire diameter) and using wirecutters,  needle nose pliers,  and a vice, I was able to bend the wire to the shape of the other tie-ups. I have now used them for two projects, so they are working well.
