1.  Connectors - I just finished a project on a 10-shaft, 14 treadle, 42" (outside width of the shafts) Macomber loom at school, and am getting ready to do another project on the same loom.  For the first project I used the wire connectors that were already on the loom, just moved them around to where I needed them.  I will be using the same loom on my next project, but that project calls for more hooks.  We have three sizes - 5.5 inches, 5.75 inches and 6.25 inches.  The smaller ones were on the loom - both sizes.   I had one hook drop off during weaving the first project  Would it matter if I changed and used all 6.25"?  That size has a deep clip-type hook at the top instead of just the short little angle on the 5.5" and 5.75".

2.  Peg - What is the purpose of the wood peg that hangs down under the lamms?  Is that to hold the lamms down while I connect the hooks to the treadles & lamms?  Are there any directions or safety guidelines to go with that?  Not sure I'm doing that right.  Pulling a lamm down with my fingers to put the peg in is tricky toward the back, and pulling the peg out makes a seriously scary clank.

Thanks for any help with this.

Link to measurements.  You need to use the correct size hook for your loom.  There are several sizes.  If you combine the old style hooks that go through the hole with the superhooks that hook over the top, just make sure the distance from the bottom of the lamm to the top of the treadle is the same.

The small hooks are for the baby mac. The other two hooks are for the big macs. I have found that mixing them is not a good plan. But if you have to use both don't mix the hooks on the same threadle. The wooden dowel is a lamm depressor and is a pain in the ass. If you can get a other student to help, use the "stick" to push down the back shafts and have your friend put a stick under the jacks (on the top of the loom) then put all of the hooks need on that back shaft (#12) Having a plan showing which shaft hooks to which treadle helps. What you need is a proper lamm depressor seen below

Thank you for your help - I should have been using the 6.25" clip from the start and will use that size for my next project.  Do you know if Macomber sells the lamm depressor separately from the loom?  It looks like it could be added with a couple of screws or bolts.

Thanks again!
