We are planning a road trip to the Twin Cities to visit my brother.   I know about the textile center, and we will go there.   Are there any weaving related stores in the area?   When I google, I get plenty of knitting stores, but no real weaving stores.

Thank you!

It may be that the Textile Center offers so much, it would be hard to compete.

Yes, the textile center is on my list!

Depth of Field has some weaving things, not a dedicated weaving shop, but they often have interesting yarns on the shelves especially if you look beyond the dedicated weaving section.

There is a little parking spot right behind the shop that is very handy.

If you pass through Milwaukee on the way and take US41 - you practically run into us in Fond du Lac - an hour and a half north of Milwaukee. Open by appointment for travelers.

I thought Depty of Field was a knitting place, but I'll check them out.   Their motto is funny:

"where the elite meet to use pointed sticks"

Milwaukee- Maybe the pilot would make an unscheduled stop for us!?!?

If you get out to the south suburbs, you should visit Knitter's Palette in Lakeville.  They sell looms and a modest amount of weaving supplies (as well as knitting materials of course).  The owner is a weaver herself and very knowledgeable.  The shop is very pleasant and worth the trip.  It is about 25 min south of downtown Minneapolis.

The Weavers Guild in the Textile Center is the only shop primarily for weavers in the Twin Cities. Depth of Field has some cone yarns, but is mostly for knitters. They have a nice selection of yarn. I got my first loom there, and was told you can use any yarn for weaving.

In the region, Color Crossing in Roberts WI (just off I94, not far from Hudson) is a treat. http://www.colorcrossing.com/
