My loom is 16 inch Kromski. It says you can weave a 16 inch width. The kitchen towel is my first project.

In calculating the warp width:

  • towel width 16 inches +10% draw = 17.60 iñches
  • towel width 14.5 inches +10% draw = 15.95 iñches (16 rouñded)

Should my project maximum width be 14.5 inches to allow for the draw?

If you wind your warp 16" in the heddle it will wind up about 14.5 inches in width.

Laurà, even if you angle the weft thread before beating, the fabric will draw  in that much? Wow.

Light bulb moment. Total number of ends cannot exceed heddle slots. My 5/2 mercerized cotton requires the 12 heddle.

  • 15 + 1.5 = 16.5 (17) .....17 × 12 epi = 204  ends
  • 14.5 + 1.4 = 15.9 (16) ...16 × 12 = 192 ends. This works.

===========

  • 12 heddle: 12 slots/inch x 16 inches = 192 slots for ends
  • 10 heddlè: 10 slots/iñch x 16 inches = 160 slots for enďs
  •  8 heddle: 8 sĺots/inch × 16 inches = 128 slots for ends
