I have a Union 36 loom and when I go to pack the weft the beater bar hits very well on the ends but not the middle. Is the frame out of square? Could something be wrong with the beater bar? Any one else have/had this problem? and how did you fix it?

Thanks

First test you can make is to advance any warp out of the way and bring the beater slowly to the frame, noting exactly how it makes contact with the breast beam.

If the beater makes contact as you describe, most likely the beater is warped - were the loom out of square, the beater would make contact first on one side, then the center, then the other side.

If the beater is making square contact with the frame(breast beam), your issue is with your project. You'd have an uneven fell line that indicates either tension issues or the need to use a temple.

Thank you for the response and advise...this has me stumped. Looks like my beater may be warped..ugh.

I am not familiar with Union looms, so I don't know how the beater is constructed.  I could be that one piece is warped and throwing everything else off, though if it's been like this a long time, everything may be curved.  I had  a problem with a loom that had one warped piece on the beater, when I replace it, everything became square.  Good luck.
