I have read about weaving tartans and I know it requires lots of perfect beating, measuring and patience.  Your family is very lucky to have you weave this traditional pattern and colors that ties them to their heritage.  Kilts next?  or a plaid (a long piece of plaid worn over the shoulder as part of Scottish Highland dress) ?

What is the name of this tartan?  Your weaving is lovely - very nice square blocks!

I like that. And I too would like to know the family (clan) name of this tartan. I can only hope to one day soon start my "yardage" tartan project. Did it take long / have any problems tying this warp up?

Notes

This tartan is my mother's family tartan.  I had woven this pattern before and given the scarves to my sisters.  When my son got a new coat this winter, he told me he needed to have a scarf and the tartan would be perfect.  I had hoped to get it done for him before the season of wearing coats is over, but I guess I will now aim to get it done for him to wear next winter.

I am also weaving a scarf for each of my siblings.  The have given me the length that they would prefer and I will see if I can get one for me.
