There are over 100 (yes, 100!) tapestries of all sizes that will be displayed at

the exhibit, "Threads of Life," that will be opening Thursday, April 18 at
Quinlan Art Center,
Gainesville, Georgia, USA. In conjunction with the opening days of the exhibit,
artist Mary Zicafoose will be teaching a workshop for TWS as well, and she will
be making remarks at the exhibit opening to be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on the
18th. The exhibit is up from April 18-June 8, 2013.

One of the features of the exhibit will be a community tapestry project, the
community of TWS, that is. Members were invited to submit a small tapestry (no
larger than 4" x 4") to be combined with others for display at the exhibit. A
group of volunteers from the Atlanta-area tapestry study group assembled all of
the small tapestries into one larger piece.

Tapestry Weavers South is a regional tapestry group that was formed in 1996.
We've held an exhibit and workshop or retreat in almost every year since then.
So far all of our exhibits have been open submission (not pre-juried) and the
shows have been a lively and exciting assortment of tapestry works each and
every time... and I expect the same will be true with this exhibit!

Gainesville, Georgia is about an hour north of Atlanta, and approximately three
hours from Asheville, NC; Chattanooga, TN; Birmingham, AL. Greenville &
Spartanburg is around 2 hours away. So if anyone is traveling to any of those
cities in the next month you might like to visit our exhibit!

Oh how I wish I could go and see the community project and see all the beautiful Tapestries! How wonderful that the timing was perfect for Mary Zicafosse to be there for opening remarks. Very exciting! I put a small piece in called Crossing Over, maybe you'll see it. TWS has many very talented Tapestry weavers! Do go if you live nearby, you'll be amazed!

I'm going to post to my blog about both the workshop and the exhibit... probably won't be able to do that until sometime next week, though. Yes, I hope that loads of folks can see the exhibit during its duration!
