hello everyone,

i recently joined this forum and i love it, i jus need a small clarification.. last week my brother gave me a bunch of drafts printed on a paper, they look lke graph and he asked me to make some.. i m soo new to this weaving. so i searched a lot on this subject and i downloaded this freeware software called DB-WEAVE, and it opened a window with graph boxes and i drew a small design. The problem is when i print the draft it doesnt come out like its on a graph, instead it comes out like a design. I want to know how to print it like its exactly on graph paper

PS: Sorry for my bad english

I don't think they will print with grid lines in the pattern window. The grid only shows on screen and very faint (at least in WeaveDesign). I'm wondering if the grid lines are dark enough to take a screenshot (Ctrl-PrtSc) and print in photoshop. However, I think you would have to adjust the contrast way up in photoshop to bring the grid in view. This would however turn all color black.

These are the graphs with drafts in them which my brother gave me, i've prepared my own draft design and i want to print it on a paper exactly like this , with the numbering on the bottom too... please help me

Little hard to make out fine detail in your pictures, but if you only want a graphed design to print, maybe look at knitting design graphing instead? Make sure the grind is square, most knitting design graphs allow you to adjust the shape of the grid to allow for the shape of knitting stitiches.

Try printing to PDF, doing a screen capture to BMP, or some other technique that will show the lines in a different format.  Then print that image.  I don't know your specific software, but in general this kind of trick works.

The software your using is not capable of this. Is there a block/pattern repeat in your draft? If so, then drawing out the entire draft full size would not be required. Where is the threading and treadling sequence in the drafts? Are they treadle tie-ups for twill weaves for sinking shed looms? Jaquard? Drawloom? Or is this view of warp and weft?

If you want to print out the point paper exactly like you have pictured there, you would have to use the same software as the original designs. They all have slightly different formats. Also, I would assume that this print out came from a CAD software and not a free download program - more powerful programs just have more options.

You should still be able to use the point paper as long as it has all of the correct information, it just might mean a little more work for the mill when cutting the cards. Ask your brother what information he needs in the design file/print out. You might be okay with what you have.

Do you have a scanner?  You can get scanners quite cheaply if you don't want great color, and you can scan it then do what ever you want with graphics software.  Some weaving software will  import the scan files (usually as a bitmap).

Yeah JPMorabito.. I guess this came out of a expensive CAD software... I've been searching a lot like literally i've been infront of PC straight 8hrs and i couldnt find a solution for it...the pics i've uploaded above are the photocopies of the original.. Next week my brother visits me again..then ill tell him to bring the original graphs and i ll update this post .. Anyways i got a scanner this morning and i m re uploading the above photocopies again.. Please take a look

Some loom drafting software will have highlighted (red) marks every 4 shafts/treadles, but I don't think the pattern is printed with lines and rows marked. Only threading, tie-up and treadling will be marked off. As stated earlier, the more features you seek, means $$.

For just a grid I use MS Excel.  The standard Excel spreadsheet can be customized to make the grid square and you can select the cell outlines.  You can color each cell and select a region, copy, and paste to replicate a design.
