Russian Old Believer design(center)

Sampling for a reproduction of the designs on one of the Russian Old Believer belts that I got to see courtesy of Kathe Todd-Hooker last year. I used new-to-me yarn and wanted to do a width sample...just as well as I started out too wide before it settled into its ideal width. This is a supplementary warp weave and I wove it on a backstrap loom as the Russian Old believers do. It tickles me that I learned this patterning technique in two places in Peru and then again in Ecuador (each with a slight twist in method) and here I am using it to produce traditonal patterns from the otherv side of the world.
