Hi all!

I am new to Macomber looms and looking to get a second reed (looking for 12epi) as well as a plain warp beam for my 32" macomber. It came with a sectional warp beam and I am unfamiliar with sectional warping. What would you do? not sure if there is a way to use the sectional warp beam as a plain warp beam? Is the best place to buy one from macomber direct? will other brand plain beams work with this loom? is there a place to buy them used? Thanks in advance!

3 more options:

-Add a rod using every 6th sectional leader string and tie warp onto the additional rod.  While winding warp onto the beam go slowly. I've found that generally yarns don't sit on top of the sectional pins.

-Get a plain beam from Macomber; keep the sectional. You'll discover projects with a supplemental warp or differential yarns are easier with double back beams.

-Learn how to sectionally warp, it's not that difficult. Check youtube videos.

Once you understand sectional warping, you'll probably never want to use a plain beam again, especially not if you get a warping wheel!

I appreciate the feedback! i was able to pull the metal brackets out (some were very difficult)! I do want to learn to do sectional warping but do not have the funds allocated for a tensioner or a warping wheel. I imagine it is something I will learn in the future though! Thank you to everyone who commented!

Just a note, you can do sectional warping with a warping board. You don't necessarily need a spool rack. You wind the individual sections as bouts, then transfer the bout to the sectional beam. The only thing you do need is a tension box though. It's slower, but it can be done. Just something to keep in mind for the future.
